Club Kongo brings a mix of kick ass rock n roll and vinyl DJs to CIC…add in some go go dancers and 1960s light show and your heading for a full on freakout!
Headlining tonight’s Kongo are Palooka 5 who play 60s surf/garage on vintage equipments. Their brand of ‘Sci Fi Surf’ on the SPINOUT NUGGETS record label has had regular spins on BBC 6 Music’s Gideon Coe & Tom Robinson, plus SIRUS XM in USA on Drew Carey and Little Steven’s (yes im’ from The Sopranos) Underground Garage. Add in a Four Star review of their last LP in Shindig Magazine makes their ‘bad vibrations’ stage show unmissable !
Second of two supports tonight comes from new 3 girl garage rockers from Bristol ‘Mimi & the Miseries’ . Expect trashy sixties style mixed with a barrel loads of attitude, its The Shangri-las Vs The Slits with a modern twist.
First support comes from Charlton Lane. Bo Diddley chops meet Eric B’s old skool beatbox, makes this a one man rock n roll boogie mash up. Delivered with preacher driven gusto….there is plenty of genuine excitement around this highly original performer.
Back by popular demand are 1960s go go dancers, the fabulous ‘Go Gets’! . Expect finger poppin, jaw droppin moves from one of the countries top go go dance troupes.
Spinning top quality 45 rpm vinyl all night will be Spinout Nuggets record label supremo Lee Grimshaw. This is Lee’s third time with us a Club Kongo and we are expecting another scorched dance floor after his mix of surf, mod, freakbeat and ska sent the punters nuts last time.
